Community involvement is an important value to The So Cal Group. This weekend, team members met up for their annual Volleyball Tournament and Fundraiser for Operation Smile! Friends and family also joined the team, and together they raised over $700 to benefit Operation Smile. Operation Smile is an international children’s medical charity that provides free life-changing surgeries for children with cleft lip, cleft palate, and other facial deformities.
The So Cal Group hosted another successful fundraising event for Operation Smile this weekend! It was the organization’s third annual Volleyball Tournament and BBQ for the cause. Over twenty teams participated in this year’s event, and the firm was able to raise over $1300 to benefit Operation Smile. The event featured live music, a taco truck serving fresh tacos and quesadillas, and a pool party!
Operation Smile is a not-for-profit, volunteer medical services organization that provides reconstructive facial surgery to indigent children and young adults in developing countries around the world. The medical team provides surgeries for children born with cleft lips and cleft palates. The cost of one surgery is just $240, so this year’s event will be able to change the lives of five children. The So Cal Group has partnered with Operation Smile for several years, and the team is excited to be able to help sponsor more medical mission trips for next year. The So Cal Group would like to thank Justine and family for planning and supporting our organization in this annual event. Congratulations to Colby and team for taking home the winning title!
Our Operation Smile Volleyball Tournament and Fundraiser was a great success! We played a ton of volleyball, enjoyed tacos and quesadillas from a local taco truck and spent time in the pool. A big thank you to Justine for planning and preparing and hosting the event, and another big thank you to everyone who attended and participated! We raised over $1200 in just one day—we’re getting very close to reaching our fundraising goal!
ORANGE, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The Southern California Group, a leading sales and marketing firm based in the city of Orange, California, recently hosted a fundraising event to benefit Operation Smile, a children’s medical charity that provides free surgeries to repair cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial deformities for children around the globe.
During their most recent event, more than 30 team members gathered to sell T-shirts in Long Beach, raising $1,500. Combined with previous events, the Southern California Group has raised more than $3,000 to date – enough for 12 smiles!
“Events like these are always a one-two punch of helping a great cause and feeling great doing it,” said Tedford Picha, President of the Southern California Group. “I am always proud of our team’s enthusiasm in rallying behind serving others, and understanding that a company’s focus on service is equally as important as a profit margin.”
In addition to working with Operation Smile, The Southern California Group has previously volunteered with the Susan J. Komen Foundation, the Children’s Hospital of Orange County, and the Boys and Girls Club of Venice. The company plans to continue its philanthropic activities as the organization grows.
The So Cal Group Gives Back again! We’re excited and proud of the team for successfully planning and executing the fundraising over the weekend. We had a great turnout and a ton of fun at our Operation Smile Volleyball Tournament and BBQ. We also owe a special thanks to Justine for all her planning efforts.
